Heritage Craft Kits
Try your hand at historic stenciling!
As we have gotten to know our community over the past several years, we have learned that many of you are interested in learning more about heritage crafts. So, we are excited to offer our very first craft kit that you can enjoy from home! With these Heritage Craft Kits, children of all ages will have the opportunity to learn more about historic stenciling, and to give it a try themselves.
Once you receive your kit you can watch our demonstration video on how to approach the stenciling craft. There are also a few fun, wooden ornaments included for you to decorate however you’d like!
Craft kits will be available for pick-up at The Brown Homestead, or we can mail them to you directly for a small shipping fee. The proceeds from these kits will go towards the development of future educational programming at The Brown Homestead.
What’s in my Heritage Craft Kit?
One custom The Brown Homestead ornament.
One blank wooden ornament for you to get creative with!
Two paint brushes and one sponge dabber for decorating your ornaments.
One custom The Brown Homestead reusable stencil. The design is based on an original stencil found in the house that dates back to the early 1800s!
One nature-themed reusable stencil.
A paintable canvas bag.
What’s not included?
Paint - we will leave that to you to pick your favourite colours!
Adhesive spray or tape for the stencils. Although not mandatory, spraying the back of the stencil with an adhesive or taping it to the canvas bag will help keep it from slipping.
