Join The Brown Homestead for a unique heritage workshop blending art with nature.

Saturday, June 29, 1 - 4 p.m.

Participants are invited to creatively interpret the John Brown House using paints derived from natural pigments repurposed from construction waste in this hands-on arts workshop.

The Experience

Hosted in the oldest home in St. Catharines, this event will feature a demonstration of making natural pigment watercolour paints, followed by a step-by-step watercolour painting lesson of the John Brown House.

This experience will be led by watercolour artist Rémy Bles, interspersed with discussions of the history of using natural pigment paints, and on deconstruction and sustainability.

Guests will also enjoy wine and pastries as they learn more about the restoration projects happening at The Brown Homestead.

About Rémy

Rémy Bles is an artist based out of London, Ontario. Her work reflects her love for nature, architecture, design & the little nuances of life. She has always admired old & decrepit architecture, and craftsmanship of days gone by. Through her studies in Interior Design and Heritage Conservation at Willowbank School of Restoration Arts she has expanded her love & knowledge for historical structures and often showcases them in her work.

Investment

$95 per participant (including taxes)

Participants will take home their own 8.5 in. x 11 in. watercolour painting of the John Brown House made using natural pigments. A glass of wine and pastries will also be provided.

Accessibility

Please note that the John Brown House is undergoing continued restoration work and is currently not wheelchair accessible. The outdoor washroom facilities and second storey of the house are accessible by stairs only.
