Vision 2028

The Road Ahead at The Brown Homestead

The Brown Homestead is a place for everyone. Facing the Short Hills Provincial Park across the street and with Henry of Pelham’s vineyards behind, the site is the perfect pastoral setting for public refreshment. Our plan for The Brown Homestead is as one of Niagara’s most exciting cultural venues, offering community festivals, public and private events, and creative educational programming, often with our outstanding educational, cultural and charitable partners.

We believe that the role of historic sites is to feed the human spirit by celebrating and sharing the inspiring stories of our communities. The Brown Homestead is a model of how historic sites can become creative educational leaders and community catalysts, helping to redefine educational paradigms for a changing world. Since 2015, we have been hard at work restoring and re-imagining this historic place as a new cultural centre for Niagara. Now, on our tenth anniversary, it is time to implement a new Strategic Plan. The scope of this Strategic Plan includes the years 2025-2027 and envisions what The Brown Homestead should look like by 2028. Achieving these goals requires a unified focus regarding how to move forward as an organization, and a plan to start implementing the necessary steps.

This Strategic Plan was reviewed by staff members and our Board of Directors in February 2025 and presents a unified set of organizational goals and supporting action plans to guide us towards achieving our vision in 2028. By this time, The Brown Homestead, through the adoption of a sustainable business model, will be a vibrant community gathering space, and a leader in Niagara’s heritage community.
