There are two ways to celebrate the holidays at the Homestead this year! Discover how family Christmas traditions in the John Brown House evolved through the Georgian, Victorian, and post-WWII eras and be a part of the story by sharing your own family holiday traditions with us.

A Festive Family Christmas at the Homestead

Explore specially-decorated rooms reimagining what Christmas looked like for the families that made the John Brown House their home over the decades. Celebrate community and togetherness with family-friendly crafts, festive treats, hot chocolate and apple cider (all included in your ticket). Take advantage of our family photo stations and use our smartphone-friendly tripod to direct your own photoshoot!
Make sure to purchase your tickets in advance so you don’t miss out! Space in the John Brown House is limited. Last entry time is 3 p.m.
Candlelit Christmas Tours

Join a cozy candlelit tour to delve deeper into the storied past of the Homestead and discover how the farming families of this old house celebrated the Christmas season across two centuries.
Tours are 50 minutes in length and begin every hour, on the hour. Last tour leaves at 7 p.m. on Thursday & Friday, and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Space is limited, pre-registration required.
Holidays @ the Homestead is open to all!
Join us as we share the Christmas traditions celebrated at the John Brown House over the decades, and we encourage you to share your traditions with us too!
All ticket proceeds support the ongoing rehabilitation of The Brown Homestead and future programming. We also request visitors bring a donation of non-perishable food items in support of Community Care of St. Catharines and Thorold .

Please note that the John Brown House is undergoing continued rehabilitation work and is currently not wheelchair accessible. The outdoor washroom facilities and second story of the house are accessible by stairs only.
