Call For Volunteers

Come help us develop new programming and welcome the Brown Family to their ancestral home!

Saturday, July 21st, 2018

JBHF is trying out some exciting new programming this summer and we want YOU to join us!

Your Old-Fashioned Family Reunion celebrates your family’s history and shares a slice of Niagara’s history in the process! If you hold your family reunion with us, your day will include heritage crafts for young and old, historic table games and children’s games, a “family history scavenger hunt”,  a “trace your family interactive map,” the creation of a “your family today video,” and more!

The day will also include a chef-prepared lunch serving dishes from your family’s cultural ancestry or a potluck lunch including a single chef-prepared dish or desert based on a family recipe, or from your ancestral culture! There will also be traditional and innovative heritage trades demonstrations, and a interactive, self-guided house tour.

This fun-filled educational family event is currently in development for local families and beyond. It is our great honor to test it this summer by offering it to - the Brown Family!

The Brown Homestead is the ancestral home of the Brown Family and it is a rare treat to be able to provide them the opportunity to hold their 75th annual reunion here at the homestead as we begin to celebrate not only their history, but the history, present and future - of Niagara.
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us bring the site to life on July 21st, 2018. Shifts will range from 4-8 hours and will consist of the following roles:

All Day Event Support
Game and Activity Leaders
Interactive House Tour Leaders
“Your Family Today” Video Station

We are happy to work with your availability and interests to find you a suitable role. There will be two 2-hour training sessions, either on the two weekends before the event or on two weeknights, subject to everyone’s availability.

Refreshments will be provided for all and lunch will be provided for those working 5 or more hours. If you are unavailable the day of the event, we are also looking for a few support volunteers in the lead-up to the event.

If you would like to join us, please email our Project Manager, Theresa Felicetti, at tfelicetti@jbhf.ca, or call the JBHF office at (905) 328-1646.  We can’t wait to hear from you!
