Visit Niagara’s Homestead.

Explore the 220+ year-old buildings on our site, learn about heritage conservation practices, see restoration projects in progress, discover stories of rural farming families, and connect with Niagara's rich history. 

We encourage you to book a guided tour with our passionate staff and volunteers , or drop in to learn and explore.  Tours are 60 minutes. 

Visitors are welcome to spend time on our property. Bring a meal to share on our picnic tables, pick-up a children’s activity, or take a digital walking tour of our site using GuideTags.

Open Thursdays - Saturdays, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. through to Labour Day weekend.

    Woodworking & Tool Sharpening with Journeyman Joiner Peter Hudson

    Dates: June 5 - 7 & June 12 - 14

    July 17 - 19 & July 24 - 25

    Time: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

    Join Peter Hudson, early North American trades historian and Journeyman Joiner from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and follow along with his progress as he builds a flax break and saw horse this summer. Learn about heritage craftsmanship and trades in action!

    Visit us on with your tools on Saturdays, June 7, 14 & July 19 for drop-in tool sharpening demonstrations! 

    Stained Glass Windows with Mackenzie Campbell

    Date: June 7

    Time: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

    Mackenzie Campbell will be working on one of her stained glass window commissions, a Victorian-style window designed for a front door. Visitors can watch the process of cutting, fitting and leading the glass, and learn about traditional stained glass techniques.

  • Guided tours begin every hour, on the hour at the front of the John Brown House. Tours are approximately 60 minutes. We recommend booking your tour in advance of your visit to save your spot, as tour space is limited.

Admission by Donation

The Brown Homestead is a registered charity, and your donations support our programming and ongoing adaptive reuse of the site. We recommend $5 per person to visit our historic site.

Accessibility

Please note that the John Brown House is undergoing continued restoration work and is currently not wheelchair accessible. The outdoor washroom facilities and second storey of the house are accessible by stairs only.
