The Road Ahead

We’ve been up to something here at The Brown Homestead. The time has come to share - with you! - more detailed plans for the next chapter in the life of this important historic site.

In 2019, we completed a Feasibility Study, which examined the demand for and sustainability of the proposed activities and functions we outlined in our Brown Homestead overview. This included extensive community outreach and research, speaking to Niagara residents about what this historic place means to them and what they would like to see and do here.

You might be wondering - what kind of activities and functions? Based on the results of the study, we intend to adapt the Homestead into a community gathering place and build one of Niagara’s most exciting cultural venues, offering community festivals, public and private events, and creative educational programming, often with our outstanding educational, cultural and charitable partners.

We spent much of 2020 working with our team of consultants to determine what the adaptive re-development of our 7½ acre historic site would look like. We worked collaboratively (but safely!) to define the types, sizes, capacities and configuration of each indoor and outdoor space that currently exists or that will be added to our campus.

We are now ready to share those plans with the Niagara community. To receive your invitation to one of our upcoming The Road Ahead events, please fill out the form below.

The Brown Homestead is a place for everyone, with an eye not only to the past, but also on the future. We can’t wait to see you!
