Help us make Niagara’s Backyard a place for everyone.
This fall, we’re raising $2,500 to expand the ways our community can gather at the Homestead.
The Brown Homestead is a place where people gather: to remember, to play, and to explore. Through our programming, people connect with one another, local history, and the natural landscape surrounding us.
Just beyond our doorstep is some of Niagara’s most remarkable natural heritage, including the Short Hills, the Niagara Escarpment, and the Bruce Trail.
We want to help more people experience it.
Help us make Niagara’s natural gems more accessible to our local community.
A Gateway and Gathering Place
Remember. Play. Explore.
Our Gather@ programs envision the Homestead and its surrounding landscape as a place for people to connect with each other, with local history, and with nature’s wonders.
We’re asking you to invest in this vision.
Help us raise $2,500 to make The Brown Homestead a more welcoming gateway to Niagara’s natural heritage.
For generations, the land surrounding The Brown Homestead has nurtured connection. Indigenous people travelled along the ridges and creeks of the Niagara Escarpment. Early settlers worked together to establish their farmsteads. Neighbouring farmers gathered to help one another in the fields and orchards.
Today, this same landscape- stretching along the Niagara Escarpment, through Short Hills, and now connected by the Bruce Trail- offers extraordinary opportunities to explore, play, and experience the natural world.
At The Brown Homestead, we remember the names and stories of those who stewarded this place before us as we create a place where our community can gather today and connect to the memory woven into the land.
Remember
Some memories are worth preserving. Others are waiting to be made.
For generations, the landscape around The Brown Homestead has been the backdrop to everyday life - where people have grown up, played, worked, and gathered. Through our oral history project, we collect, preserve, and share the stories and lived experiences of those who know life in rural Niagara best.
Today, we’re creating new memories too. Help us welcome more people to gather at the Homestead and become a place worth remembering for generations to come.
Play
A backyard is a place to nurture imagination, play, and quality time.
At The Brown Homestead, we want our outdoor spaces to invite more people to slow down, stay awhile, and enjoy our peaceful pastoral setting. Additional seating and gathering areas made from reclaimed materials will create more opportunities for families, friends, and visitors to connect with their inner child.
Help us make more space for play.

Explore
The Brown Homestead is surrounded by a remarkable natural landscape.
We believe that exploring nature is one of the first steps towards caring for it.
As a community gathering place located nearby the Short Hills, Bruce Trail, and on the Niagara Escarpment, we must play a role in connecting people to Niagara’s natural heritage.
Your support helps us maintain welcoming outdoors spaces and build our capacity for nature-based programming.
